A New Perspective for the New Year
The new year is here, a fresh start, a clean slate. We’ve been conditioned to begin setting goals, making resolutions, and striving for more. But what if we shifted our focus from the what to the who? What if, instead of starting with what we want to have, we began with who we want to be?
T.Harv Eker states that the order to success is BE, DO, HAVE.
This mindset shift represents a radical departure from conventional goal-setting wisdom. Instead of believing we must “have” so we can “do” then “become”, we must understand that success starts with a “who” not a “what”.
1. Be: Cultivate Your Ideal Self
Before you can achieve anything significant, you must first define who you want to be.
Identify your core values: What truly matters? What principles guide your decisions and actions? Are they integrity, kindness, creativity, or something else entirely?
Visualize your ideal self: Imagine the person you want to be. How do they think, feel, and act? What qualities do they embody? Be specific.
Embrace the feeling: Connect with the emotions associated with being that person. Feel the confidence, the joy, the peace. This is crucial for attracting the experiences you desire.
2. Do: Take Aligned Action
Once you have a clear vision of who you want to be, the next step is to do the things that align with that identity.
Identify aligned actions: What steps that will move you closer to your goals and reinforce your desired identity?
Focus on consistent effort: Build momentum and reinforces your new identity with consistency.
Embrace the process: Focus on the process of becoming the person you want to be. Enjoy the journey.
3. Have: Experience the Natural Result
The having is the natural consequence of the being and the doing. When you embody the qualities of your ideal self and take aligned actions, the things you desire will naturally flow into your life.
Release attachment to the outcome: Trust that by focusing on being and doing, the having will take care of itself.
Practice gratitude: Appreciate what you already have.
Be open to receiving: Be receptive to the opportunities and blessings that come your way.
